AbstractThe invention provides for the simplified production of chromogenic devices, including relatively large scale devices in panel form. One or more of the layers of the invention are formed from heated, hydrolyzed gel reaction product of one or more dissolved organo-inorganics, such as alkoxides, which may be metallic. The invention includes an ion-conducting layer which comprises a lithium based ceramic material containing residual organic impurities.
